Nominations

The Gray-Carrington Scholarship Award covers tuition, fees, and rent for one year. This Scholarship is awarded to students who exhibit the traits that Gray and Carrington brought to this University:

  • Personal Integrity: One who can tolerate no wrong, nor sit idle until it is rectified.
  • Achievement: One who sets goals above those of ordinary men and women, yet meets or exceeds them even in the face of overwhelming adversity.
  • Leadership: One who can motivate others to perform to the utmost of their abilities.
  • Humility: One who, although possessing all of those superlative traits, maintains a demeanor not of superiority but of service to others performed with love and selflessness.

In addition to having these characteristics, candidates must display distinction and a broad sphere of influence in the areas in which Pete Gray and Ed Carrington excelled: academics and extracurricular activities. It is also hoped that candidates exhibit an interest in the University’s athletic programs. Only students entering their final year in a bachelor’s program are eligible.

Peer nominations are sought in October and November by a committee comprised of current student leaders who are typically in their final year at the University.
