Now accepting nominations
Please consider nominating a student who will be entering their graduating year for the Gray-Carrington Scholarship by writing and submitting a nomination letter on their behalf, addressing the four pillars of the Gray-Carrington Scholarship. Additionally, each letter should include a list of the nominee’s known involvements.
The letter can be submitted by emailing an electronic copy to graycarrington25@gmail.com and need not exceed one to two pages. All submissions are encouraged and will be judged based on character rather than the quality of writing. Letters of nomination must be received by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, December 1st.
Personal Integrity, Achievement,
Leadership, Humility
As students at the University of Virginia, Arthur Powell “Pete” Gray, IV and Edward Codrington Carrington, Jr continually demonstrated these qualities, and they are characteristics fostered by the scholarship that bears their names. The Gray-Carrington Scholarship Award, one of the most prestigious honors a University of Virginia student can attain, serves as a memorial to two alumni who embodied the best of the University’s ideals and traditions. It recognizes student leaders who, like Pete Gray and Ed Carrington, give themselves in ways to benefit all members of the academic community.
